Mirror Painting - Experimenting stain glass colours

Hello All,

I painted a simple mirror with some stain glass paints and updated it to classy decor item. This is one more way of using some of my designs which I shared in my previous posts here, here, here and here.

I used black liner to outline the design and painted with normal stain glass colours. I decided to use some frost paint for the background , so the design will stand out and make a better impact. 

All my stain glass painting were created during 2003 winter period as I did the designer course from celene deco art products in India. 

But unfortunately I was not able to follow this art through as I got busy with higher studies and settling down in Australia. 

Stain glass painting is very versatile and a quick way to upgrade simple objects in your home .

Stain Glass Painting - Fish Pattern

Sharing some more Stain painting art work. This was made during the same time when i got the bug of stain painting(2003). 

I was experimenting with various products given by the Celine Art Deco groups as part of the seminar I attended. I was like a kid in candy store all busy trying new things and getting excited 

The fish was painted with opaque pearl colours and the grass was painted with transparent colour just to create an impact in the design. 

I used the frosted paint for the background .

Again aluminium foil was used in the background while framing the picture. 

I personally think that the aluminium foil does not suit in this picture, but many of my friends like it.

Stain Glass painting - Ganesha

Hello Lovely Readers,

I am sharing my first Stain Glass Painting art with you all today. I attended the Celine art deco seminar in 2002 for one day and painted this frame under their supervision and guidance. 

I love Ganesha and every time I start something new I start in HIS name, so was happy to receive this design in the seminar. 

I framed the glass later with the aluminium foil in the background. 

My grandma loved it so much that she took it to her house and to this day its proudly sits in her living room.

Stain Glass Painting - Window Pane project

One more stained glass work created while discovering the new medium of painting which I learnt from celene deco art products in India.

 I removed the glass  from the kicthen window pane and painted it with abstract painting. I experimented using copper colour instead of black liner for drawing all the elements. I used frosting paint and opaque jelly (can't remember its correct name, but it looks like hairstyling jel that hardens after applying and gives a textured effect) 

I also added dash of glitter on wet paint to glam it up a bit!   

My mum loves this painting as it creates colourful shadows in the kitchen when the sun in the east rises and sunshine seeps through the window. It reminds her of me and makes her day start with vibrant mood... ( I learnt this when I asked her if I can clean the window pane and make something else on it.. in my recent trip to India)

Stained Glass Painting - Flowers

 
 
 
 
 

Please note: I have published this post on Craftziners in last week and wish to share it with my blogdost who are not on craftziners. I am not a pro blogger yet so can't link back to my old post hence reposting!

 

In early 2002 as I was busy enrolling in to various art classes and learning new skills... I came across stain glass painting. 

 

Originally this art involved cutting coloured stones of varying sizes and piecing them together with lead material to make a picture. This picture was then illuminated with back light! 

 

Stained glass lamp shades are the perfect elements to utilize for this art. It needs a glass tinting paint that is easily available either online or offline.

Glass painting designs of peacock are quite famous among house owners as peacock is considered as lucky bird in many cultures around the world. You can paint wine glasses to get the feel of same elegance that were during the time of historic rulers all over the world.

Though authentic lampshades are still made in this pattern, wall decors can be made with easy tools and skills.

Materials used

• Wooden frame
• Aluminium Foil
• Stained glass paints
• Flower pattern printed on A4 size paper
• White liner  
• Glass frosting gel

 

 Step by step process:

• Remove the glass from the wooden frame and place it on the A4 size pattern. 
• Using White liner trace the pattern on the glass
• Let it dry for 30-40 minutes paint the flowers with stain glass paints. Be careful not to mask the outline
• Mix two colours to create shaded effect ( see leaves)
• If the pattern is small then cover the rest of the glass with glass frosting gel or make some patterns with paint(as shown) 
• Leave the painting flat for drying
• Add crumpled aluminium foil to the background of the frame before setting the glass frame
• This makes your design stand out! 
• The right side of the glass is turned inside while framing. This means you can't feel the paints and liner after framing. 

This is very versatile art and can be used for painting window panes, cabinet doors and entrance doors. You also get readymade stained glass panels as wall lights from IKEA !
